IN PARTNERSHIP WITH

🎃Friday Raining with a high of 54 all weekend. It always rains on Halloween here, huh? Today’s news includes a hotel so cheap you’ll wish you bought it yourself, plus a new cocktail bar in Slabtown, and a shocking number of arrests in a human trafficking sting. There’s so many great Halloween events this weekend to choose from. Smashing Pumpkins and Gorillaz both at the Moda. Sunday is also the end of Daylight Savings Time, so enjoy that delicious extra hour of sleep. I’ll be seeing Buena Vista Orchestra Sunday at the Aladdin.

The Royal Sonesta hotel at 506 SW Washington Street has sold for $6.8 million, about 94% less than the $108.3 million it fetched in 2016, according to CoStar Group. Laxmi Hotels Group bought the downtown property from an entity tied to Service Properties Trust. Hotel Zags sold earlier this month for $10 million, and the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront sold early this year for $30.1 million, less than half its prior price. Oregonian

That old boat or trailer sitting on your property? It’s not going anywhere on its own—and most junk services won’t touch it.
That’s where Jr Junk Services stands out. Family-owned in Portland, this is the team people call for the jobs others avoid—especially boat and trailer removal. I used Jr’s Junk Services recently, and Jose was great to work with. He showed up on time and made everything so easy for me. If you need something big gone without the stress, this is the move.

Lucille, a New Cocktail Bar, Settles Into Slabtown
Lucille, a neighborhood cocktail bar that opened in July at 2141 NW Savier Street, is the sibling to Multnomah Village’s The Gibson. Both are fronted by Nick Gusikoff. Manager Stephen Hawk’s cocktails lean tropical, with some savory notes. The Lucille blends peppercorn vodka, dry sherry and dill syrup. It is open 4 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 4 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday. Willamette Week
Portland Police Report 44 Arrests or Citations in Human Trafficking Missions
The Portland Police Bureau says missions since June along Northeast 82nd Avenue and Northeast Sandy Boulevard led to 44 people being arrested or cited for commercial sexual solicitation or unlawful prostitution procurement. The patrols responded to community complaints and involved the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI and other partners. During a six-month trial, officers also contacted 139 people believed to be engaging in prostitution and offered advocacy services and other resources. portland.gov

Not mentioned in the article, but my ex had multiple ghost sightings when she worked at Dan & Louis Oyster Bar. It’s connected to the Shanghai Tunnels, so not surprising.
