Thursday and it’s a good one with a high of 81 and sunshine. Jeff Goldblum will be here tonight at the Schnitz, so I want everyone on their best behavior please. Tuck in your shirts, mind your manners, make a good impression. News today- Rally to save trees at Forest Park, new butcher shop on NE Alberta, and Samudra the elephant is moving to St Louis.
I asked Reddit what are the three worst intersections in Portland. This was the consensus:
#3- SE 39th onto Sandy
#2- SW Barbur + SW Caruthers meets the 405
#1- 6 Corners, where Beaverton Hillsdale meets Scholls Ferry
Honorable mention to the roundabout at SE 39th and Glisan. People really don’t like that it has stop signs.

Forest Park Supporters Rally Against PGE Power Project
Forest Park supporters rallied at City Hall on Wednesday, urging the city to deny Portland General Electric's permit for its Harborton Reliability Project. PGE says the upgrade is needed to avoid blackouts as soon as 2028, and the work would cut 376 trees. Last year, council unanimously denied the permits. This July, the city and PGE reached an agreement that includes $5.5 million for environmental mitigation, and the city appears poised to approve the revised application. KPTV

That old boat or trailer sitting on your property? It’s not going anywhere on its own—and most junk services won’t touch it.
That’s where Jr Junk Services stands out. Family-owned in Portland, this is the team people call for the jobs others avoid—especially boat and trailer removal. I used Jr’s Junk Services recently, and Jose was great to work with. He showed up on time and made everything so easy for me. If you need something big gone without the stress, this is the move.

Samudra the Elephant Will Move to St. Louis Next Spring
Samudra, the Oregon Zoo's 18-year-old Asian elephant, is moving to the St. Louis Zoo to join its herd. No date is set, but zoo staff expect him to stay in Portland until next spring, so there is time to visit him before he goes. Samudra was born at the zoo in August 2008, weighing 286 pounds, and is now over 10,000 pounds. St. Louis has a deep pool where he can swim. KATU
