Hood to Coast is this weekend with runners passing through today/ tonight, and the walking relay kicking off from OMSI. A Portland family is suing Central City Concern and Multnomah County after Eric Eno's body sat undiscovered in his transitional housing unit for about 11 days after he died. The $3 million lawsuit says staff ignored two calls about a foul smell from his room and lacked authority to enter without manager approval. It is the seventh such lawsuit against the nonprofit, which now faces claims covering 34 decomposed bodies found across its 2,400 publicly funded housing units countywide. Central City Concern and the county both declined to comment. KGW

Multnomah County commissioners voted unanimously Thursday to adopt the county's first climate justice plan, a 10-year roadmap aimed at protecting residents from extreme heat, wildfire smoke, and flooding while slashing emissions. The targets are steep: 50 percent below 1990 levels by 2030, net-zero by 2050. That lines the county up with the city of Portland's own climate goals. Staff will spend the next stretch building a baseline indicators report, the first step before regular progress updates start reaching the board. Nobody's pretending the hard part is over. Most of Portland's overnight shelters are open only at night, and guests have to leave each morning. This week's Dr. Know column in Willamette Week took on the question of why, pointing to staffing shifts, cleaning schedules, and shelter contracts built around overnight beds, not 24-hour stays. The city's answer is a separate network of day centers, over a dozen scattered around the county, where people can shower, do laundry, and get connected to housing help. Advocates say the real problem is the gap between shelter checkout and day center opening. WIllamette Week
