Monday high of 74 and sunny. I am cranking out waves of good feelings to everyone today. Everyone is going through something. But you aren’t alone. It’s a bright new week so let’s see what the news says. Pride Plaza has reopened downtown following 2 years of work. There’s a map of excellent lunch spots courtesy of Eater PDX. There’s an ambitious community solar project at the new bird sanctuary. In our Spotlight section today is a house that you will love or you will hate. No middle ground here.
This is the last day to sign up for our Drizzle Dinner Club on Wednesday. If you’re feeling shy about sitting down to eat with strangers, remember they’re probably feeling shy too and that’s okay. “What did you do today?” is a great way to get a conversation started.
🚨 THE NEWS
Pride Plaza Is Back in Living Color
Pride Plaza at Southwest 12th Avenue and Harvey Milk Street celebrated its grand reopening on Saturday. The end of Harvey Milk Street is now painted in rainbow colors, and the party brought a DJ, drag queens and local vendors. McMenamins Crystal Blocks general manager Robert Turner spent two years working to revitalize the plaza. Organizers say it is open to everyone and hope it becomes a regular home for community events and local businesses. KPTV

Eater has the lunch worth going out for
Eater PDX has updated their map of the best lunch spots in Portland. These are places worth leaving the desk for. If you want something quick to grab and go, or if you have time to sit down for lunch, here are the best reviewed restaurants. Note that the list doesn’t include food trucks and sandwich-specific spots, as those have been covered before. Some new additions include Higgins, Nong’s Khao Man Gai, and the Paper Bridge. Eater PDX
Montavilla's Old Landfill Gets a Bright Idea
Crews are installing a community solar array on a former landfill at 2800 NE 82nd Avenue, now owned by Bird Alliance of Oregon. Once finished, the 800-kilowatt array should cut utility costs for 140 low-income Portlanders through a partnership with APANO and Bonneville Environmental Foundation. Credits could trim participants' energy bills by up to 40%. The array is the seventh community solar project supported by the Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund. Montavilla News
🏠 REAL ESTATE SPOTLIGHT

3126 SE 36th Ave is a vibe. Brutalism meets modernism with this 4 bed, 4 bath unique home, and I’m for it. The cold concrete is balanced with the warmth of Oregon white oak. I’m sure you will notice the cedar sauna outside, but make sure you also check the shower in picture 36. Thank you to Suzann Baricevic Murphy of Where, Inc for sharing this listing.
📚 ON THIS DAY
On this day in 2015, Clara Peoples, Oregon's "Mother of Juneteenth," passed away at 89. She helped Portland recognize Juneteenth back in 1972. Her legacy still shines.
