PPS Says 100-Plus Jobs Go Under Every Rightsizing Option
Portland Public Schools says it will cut more than 100 full-time positions no matter which rightsizing option the board chooses. At Tuesday's board meeting, the district laid out its choices. Scenario A closes 14 schools, 13 elementary and one middle school. Scenario B closes 11 schools, 10 elementary and one middle school. In both, more than 100 positions go. If no schools close, the district says it would cut up to 223 full-time positions. KATU

That old boat or trailer sitting on your property? It’s not going anywhere on its own—and most junk services won’t touch it.
That’s where Jr Junk Services stands out. Family-owned in Portland, this is the team people call for the jobs others avoid—especially boat and trailer removal. I used Jr’s Junk Services recently, and Jose was great to work with. He showed up on time and made everything so easy for me. If you need something big gone without the stress, this is the move.

Oregon's Camino-Style Peace Trail Heads to the Coast
The Oregon Peace Trail, inspired by Spain's Camino de Santiago, is now planned as a 100-mile coastal route. It runs from Bastendorff Beach near Coos Bay south to Brookings, along the Oregon Coast Trail, and launches in May 2027. Rotary clubs will install Peace Poles along the way, and an app is in development. Founders include Portland's Al Jubitz, whose family foundation has funded Peace Poles in Oregon since 2017. Spielman's Division Street Shop Becomes Ricky's
The Spielman Bagels shop at 2111 SE Division Street gets a new name on Monday, October 26. It becomes Ricky's, after owner Raf Spielman's late father, Rick, who opened the first shop about 15 years ago. October 26 is Rick's birthday. Raf says the bagels will now be baked as the shop opens each day, using flour from Cairnspring. The menu will have about eight flavors, six classic and two rotating. Bridgetown Bites
