OK Omens and Bistecca Will Serve Their Last Course on Oct. 17
OK Omens on Southeast Hawthorne and Bistecca Woodfire Steakhouse in the Northwest District will both close Saturday, Oct. 17. OK Omens owner Monique Siu is retiring after 25 years of running Portland restaurants. Bistecca, owned by "Top Chef" alum Gabriel Pascuzzi, cited tariffs and gas prices, and said plans to pass the torch to another group fell through. Bistecca and Pascuzzi's other restaurant, Hey Luigi, were slated to host the "I ♥ Portland" dinner series through December.KOIN

Oregon Puts $4.5 Million Toward Getting Asia Flights Off the Ground
Travel Oregon is contributing $4.5 million to the Port of Portland's effort to bring back direct flights between PDX and Asia. The region has had no trans-Pacific route since Delta suspended its Tokyo service in 2020. The grant is a short-term incentive to reduce startup risk for an airline launching service to a hub such as Tokyo or Seoul. Port Executive Director Curtis Robinhold's goals this year include a new direct route to Asia or Mexico by May 2027. KGW
Tabor Bread Rises to the Big Screen in a New Portland Rom-Com
A new romantic comedy filmed at Southeast Portland's Tabor Bread is heading to theaters. "In Spite of Ourselves," written and directed by Josh Loeb, opens with its very first frame at the bakery. Owner Rebecca Tosdevin once worked for Loeb, and filming about two years ago meant shutting down the bakery and the entire block. It screens at the Portland Film Festival on Sunday, Oct. 4, and opens Friday, Oct. 9, at Living Room Theaters. Oregonian

🍝 RESTAURANT SPOTLIGHT
Domingo’s is a Mexican restaurant on NE Glisan, which my SIL wanted to check out for her birthday because she thought it looked cute and they have carne asada. Friends, it was more than cute. We loved it! The first thing for me was the tortilla chips which came out hot and fresh. We had tacos al pastor which were juicy with excellent tortillas. Avery loved the carne asada and she’s picky too. My paloma was just how I like it, and you know I love palomas. We all give Domingo’s five stars.
