🍺Friday hip hip hooray We’re looking at 75 and sunny today with a warm nice weekend ahead. If you’re going out, there’s Oktoberfest celebrated at many places including Prost, Crystal Hotel, Stammtish, the German House, and also down in Mt Angel. If you’re staying in, then have some tea and be cozy. Couldn’t hurt to tidy up a bit too. Sick of street racing? Same. Portland is making moves to curb it. Plus- puppies, books, cocktails, and more!

Portland Puts Some Money Where the Rubber Meets the Road

Portland City Council is advancing a $207,411 state grant to help police respond to street racing and takeover events, which typically require about 20 officers pulled from Multnomah and Clackamas counties, TriMet, the Port of Portland, and even Vancouver police. Police say 12 homicides have been tied to takeovers since 2021. Wednesday's vote was a first reading; a final vote is set for next Wednesday, and the grant covers work through the end of September. The CBD Brand that Actually Does What It Says

CBD is having a moment and CBD brands are everywhere right now. But with so many options, it can be tough to know what to look for – and which brands actually follow through on their claims.

That’s where CBDistillery sets itself apart. For the past decade, all of CBDistillery's products have been made with non-GMO, US-grown industrial hemp and with 100% clean ingredients – no corn syrup or artificial colors, flavors, preservatives or sweeteners.

They frequently introduce new and innovative products formulated to meet a variety of wellness needs and customer preferences. And every single batch of CBDistillery’s gummies, oil tinctures, topicals and softgels are tested by an independent, accredited lab to make sure what’s in the package matches what’s on the label.

Right now, CBDistillery is offering our readers a special deal: save 50% on orders of $75 or more with code NEWS50!

Gol's Owner Mourns a Bar Well Toasted

Gol owner Peter Mahr says he's still reeling after an accidental kitchen fire tore through his family-run soccer bar on Southeast Hawthorne, calling the damage "heart-wrenching" after years of work vanished in one night. The blaze broke out overnight in an empty kitchen and sent smoke into neighboring shops. Mahr doesn't have a reopening date yet, but says the outpouring of community support, from well-wishes to a new GoFundMe, has kept his staff and family going. KPTV
