🦐Wednesday- what’s shakin? Election results are in from Oregon's primary. Christine Drazan leads the GOP governor's race and the gas tax went down in flames, hard. Have I been elected as precinct committeeperson? I don’t know! Can’t find results for that and nobody has called me or anything 🤷 High near 70 today, barely a cloud in the sky. Let’s get into it.

🚨 THE NEWS

Oregon Voters Crush the Gas Tax. Drazan Wins the Night.

Oregon's primary delivered two clear verdicts Tuesday night. State Sen. Christine Drazan jumped out to an early lead in the Republican governor's primary, her second run at the seat, after losing to Tina Kotek by a few points in a three-way 2022 race. Kotek cruised unopposed on the Democratic side. The bigger story was Measure 120. The 6-cent gas tax increase, passed by the legislature last fall and referred to voters by Republicans, was crushed. Early returns showed more than four in five Oregonians rejecting it. The legislature will now have to find another way to close the state's transportation funding gap. Gas in Oregon is currently averaging around $5.34 a gallon. That may have had something to do with it. KGW

A Pearl District Bar Has Become a Crime Story. The Owner Wants Answers.

Shannon Lyons, 31, is facing attempted murder charges after a shooting outside River Pig Saloon in the Pearl District that injured three women in late April. Surveillance video shows Lyons drive up, get into a brief scuffle on the bar's elevated walkup, and open fire, three women hit by stray bullets or shrapnel, one struck twice. Owner Ramzy Hattar has been vocal. He says Lyons was a known convicted felon who was out on the street carrying a weapon. A Historic Hillsboro Farm Is Surrounded by Data Centers. Residents Are Done Being Quiet.

About 100 people gathered Saturday at the historic Shute Farm in Hillsboro, now fully encircled by data center construction, to condemn what organizers called a "data center disaster" in Washington County. Concerns: water consumption, rising electricity bills, and a rush of 17 Enterprise Zone tax-break applications filed ahead of the state's June moratorium. One estimate put the Hillsboro School District's losses from data center tax abatements at $128 million in 2024 alone. The city's Hillsboro City Council has a June 2 work session scheduled. Councilor Olivia Alcaire has already called the city's current approach "reckless." KATU

“Really delicious noodle soups with complex and harmonious broths that feel like a warm hug! Portions are packed with protein including the easily shreddable and rich pork. Several noodle choices to customize. We tried the boat noodles and clear broth which were unique, balanced and amazing. Excellent value for the price. Atmosphere is clean and casual. Will definitely be back to try stir-fry.”
